Mate, I've done many and many hostels but this one is so far my best. The staff is great, the kitchen is absolutely enough, the room with curtains and some space to tidy up your stuff is perfect. You have a bathroom at each floors. If I could book an hostel, each time I'm travelling, it could be so easier !!! I miss my time here
Stayed at the hostel multiple times during my 2 weeks in QT and I loved it. The beds are comfy, it's super clean, the amenities are good but most of all the staff are amazing! Shout out to George, James, Hannah and the rest of the gang who were so lovely and made the experience such a good one. They do a great job of running the hostel and making guests feel welcome. Will be recommending the hostel :)
Due to my knee surgery coming up I called ahead of time and chatted to a lovely gentleman George who was very helpful, thoughtful, kind mannered and reassuring. The hostel has amazing staff, friendly, clean well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The linen is clean, just tired. The only thing was the doors made scratching in need of oiling each time they were opened in the night and shut again. I enjoyed my stay and would be have as a female older traveler to stay again. The intercity bus was right at the door for an early morning start and the coffee shop on the corner has delicious coffee and friendly vibe.
During summer, only stay here if you want to party. Noise is an issue. The place is also rundown slightly. We were given a terrible bunk room on the first floor, surrounded by common areas: kitchen, outdoor space, reception, and showers. It was loud. There is a « quiet after 10 pm « rule in common areas, but some staff members went back to the kitchen and chatted for an hour; we could genuinely hear everything (not because they talk loud but because the walls are paper thin). I recommend avoiding this specific room if you can. Rooms on other floors should be way better. On the positive side, beds have curtains (mine was broken tho), chargers, and are comfortable. The staff is friendly and the location is good. My conclusion is that the hostel feels maybe slightly rundown and is definitely overpriced for what you get. Even for Queenstown, it's not worth the money. I added two pictures of broken curtains from our room (one from my bed and one from the window connecting to the outside area). Given the price of 75 NZD, not so nice
Epic hostel. Clean. Felt safe. Get given a name card for your bed to clearly claim your bed! Each bed has different bedding which helps make it feel homely. Where's wally in the toilets is cool but be warned looking at where's wally when on the toilet is just as bad if not worse than watching tik tok!!
